The Karakoram Highway (KKH) is the highest paved international road in the world.It connects China and Pakistan across the Karakuram  mountain range, through the Khunjerab Pass, at an elevation of 4,693 metres (15,397 ft) as confirmed by both SRTM and multiple GPS readings. It connects China's Xinjiang region with Pakistan's Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions and meets on Hassan Abdal City Panjan Pakistan also serves as a popular tourist attractions. Due to its high elevation and the difficult conditions in which it was constructed, it is also referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World.
The Karakoram Highway is known informally as the KKH, and — within Pakistan — officially as the N-35 in Pakistan.Karakuram highways starts from Hassan abdal and crosses Haripur,Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Thakot,Besham, Kohistan,Chilas,Gilgit Hunza valley and Khunjirab pass.

History: Completed in 1979, open to the public since 1986

Palas valley kohistan KPK Pakistan

Palas Valley

Palas valley is the highest and largest forest in Pakistan with some unique birds from sub-continent only found here in Palas valley.Palas valley Located in Kohistan district of Khyber pakhtoonkhwa, in Pakistan. Palas Valley is famous for its rich wildlife, green mountains & beautiful forest. dispute its beautiful & attractive wildlife, this place is hidden from most of the tourists due to lack of hotels & tourists residences. people across the world have limited information & awareness about it. located on the left bank of the river Indus it has its boundaries with Allai. the local population is simple & a majority of them is uneducated. forests in palas is also a site for one of the world beautiful tragopan, that makes this place extremely important for western tragopan species. After the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, this place got special attention from several national & international NGOs & till now they have contributed a lot in rising the livelihood of the local population as well as promoting tourism for Palas valley.

 Dassu is the headquarter of Indus Kohistan District.In Kohistan mostly population along the karakuram highways.Dubair,Pattan,Komila,Dassu,shatiyal are the famous populated areas along the road.These populations affected by Dasu dam project.The Dasu Dam is a gravity dam currently being constructed on the Indus River near Dasu in Kohistan DistrictKhyber Pakhtunkhwa ProvincePakistan. The 242 m (794 ft) tall dam will support a 4,320 MW hydroelectric power station which will be built in two 2,160 MW stages. Water from the reservoir will be diverted to the power station located about 3.5 km (2.2 mi) downstream.The first stage was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council on 29 March 2014.That stage will cost an estimated US$4.278 billion. Funding is being provided by the World Bank(US$700 million), the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (US$1.5 billion), Deutsche Bank (US$1 billion) and Aga Khan Development Network (US$500 Million). Completion of stage one is expected in March 2019.Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attended the dam's groundbreaking ceremony on 25 June 2014.

Diamer Bhasha dam

Diamer-Bhasha Dam is a gravity dam, in the preliminary stages of construction, on the River Indus in Gilgit-BaltistanPakistan. Its foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani of Pakistan on 18 October 2011, Majority funding being provided by Aga Khan Development Network. Upon completion, Diamer-Bhasha Dam would be the highest roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dam in the world.The dam site is situated near a place called "Bhasha" in Gilgit-Baltistan's Diamer District, hence the name.
Upon completion, Diamer-Bhasha Dam would (i) produce 4,500 megawatts of electricity through environmentally clean hydropower generation; (ii) store an extra 8,500,000 acre feet (10.5 km3) of water for Pakistan that would be used for irrigation and drinking; (iii) extend the life of Tarbela Dam located downstream by 35 years; and (iv) control flood damage by the River Indus downstream during high floods.
It will have a height of 272 meters spillway with fourteen gates each 11.5 m x 16.24 m. The gross capacity of the reservoir will be 8,100,000 acre feet (10.0 km3), with a live storage of 6,400,000 acre feet (7.9 km3). Two underground power houses are being proposed, one on each side of the main dam having six turbines on each side with total installed capacity 4500 MW.

Thore valley is most effected area of Diamer Bhasha dam.Right side is thore of Indus river left side Darel Khanbari,south Bhasha village. is situated almost 50km from Dassu headquarter of district kohistan.
